Day 1 - Arrived in Halifax

· Ruby's IWK Journey

Written by Charlotte

We are going down to Halifax today. Planning to take it slow with the snow, and will stay at the Ronald McDonald House tonight and tomorrow night. We have a pre-op appointment at 10:15am tomorrow; they'll do a weight check, some bloodwork as well as an ECG and echo of Ruby's heart etc. It will be a pretty full day. Then we will be back again on Tuesday at 6:15am to admit Ruby for her surgery. We have to stop feeds at 4am, so I assume they will put her under around 8am or there abouts, since she can't have any breast milk for four hours before they begin the surgery. But obviously we'll know more tomorrow, we haven't spoken to the surgeon yet. My mom is staying with Elizabeth while we are away, so we will be missing her on top of everything else, though thankfully we had time to prep her for our absence this time around! Please be praying for safe travels and a good appointment on Monday. We are obviously very nervous and anxious about the surgery, so prayers for peace and strength are appreciated. And for the surgery itself, that things would go smoothly, from surgery all the way through her recovery. We know God is walking with us through all of this, and we thank you all for being in our corner and lifting us up in prayer ❤️
