Once the excitement of the morning was done it was just them working with her meds to balance all the things. They did a chest ultrasound and her lungs looked pretty good, though they are wet from all the extra fluid in her body- they noticed this when they went in to close up her chest.
Tonight they'll be moving her from side to side more aggressively to help open up those areas of her lungs that have collapsed a bit from her laying down so long. (Very normal in ICU patients) And they have her heart paced to 130 (she was sitting around 120) so that she can get some extra oxygen to all areas of her body, she has been getting enough, but normally would have a little extra. And they took her off of the diuretics earlier today because she peed more than they actually wanted, but they put her back on a very minimal amount to help her work off more of the fluid. Trying to gradually wean some of her medications and keep her well balanced in all the areas overnight.
Hoping. And praying things will level out in the next few days and we'll see some progress with her lungs soon! The first test will be seeing how she does without sedation and the ultimate test will be to see how she does when they take her off of the ventilator.
It's hard to know how to feel about all of this, it really is a roller coaster and it's hard to keep up mentally and emotionally. Thankful that her chest is closed up though for sure.
Thank you all for your prayers for our brave little girl ❤️🩹
