Hi all,
Thank you for praying, Ruby's came out of the OR around noon and there were no complications!
There isn't an issue with her lungs beyond what they already know about. But there wasn't anything they could go in and "fix" surgically or treat definitively. There was a possibility that her lungs just physically or congenitally didn't work properly and wouldn't be repairable, we are grateful that that wasn't the case.
The left ventricle of her heart is very stiff so it is causing issues upstream. The way they can treat this is basically to give her heart more time to relax. They will also try to slow her heart rate to allow her ventricle time to fill and stretch it out a bit more. The problem is that sometimes things like this don't get better; babies do die from this issue. We are still holding out hope that she will improve with more time and now that they are aware of the issue and can change her treatment plan things will relax. There is no guarantee that it will work out- even if this issue does resolve it may create issues on the other side of her heart... fix one problem to exacerbate the other.
For now we are just glad that we have an answer that gives the possibility of her getting better, and we'll continue to pray that the Lord will make a way through all of this for Ruby.
