Day 34

· Ruby's IWK Journey

Written by Thomas

Good morning,

It has been calm around here since our update yesterday. They are still adjusting Ruby's heart rate meds to get to a good spot. When she is awake she tends to really get her heart rate going. Yesterday she decided to take some big naps during the day (after a few days of barely any daytime naps) and was a bit restless last night. She seems to be falling asleep now.

We are waiting today to find out when she will get into the OR to get a tracheostomy. She is on the waitlist, but should get in today. After that she will be sedated for a day or two to allow things to heal well. Once she has the trach we are hoping that she will be a little less stressed out because her mouth will be free. We are also hoping to allow her to move her hands more freely. Apparently little kiddos usually don't pull out the trach because they go for their mouths instead.

We are hoping that she gets in today and praying that there are no complications. Lizzie is visiting again this weekend and the doctor got us an exception so that she can come into the PICU and see Ruby. Hopefully that all goes smooth!
