Ruby did well yesterday and through the night!
So far she's done well with 2 out of 3 bottle feeds (10mls of skim breast milk) and she has had lots of big poops. Her first bottle she just gummed a bit, but the second one she was pretty coordinated.
She was very sleepy for most of the morning and early afternoon post OR, but she did sleep last night too which was great.
No withdrawal symptoms or fevers. She did have some boogers, but her nasal swab came back negative for any viruses. And we are back to the ventilator settings she had before her trach change.
They made some small changes to her medications as they continue to try to wean, and few changes to her lasix and concentrating her feeds a bit to slowly help her be less lasix dependent but still not getting to much fluid on. They are going to add in a medication to hopefully get her off of another IV infusion. Dr. Verma is the intensivist on the ward for the next 72 hours, so he will go over all that has been attempted as far as weaning her hydromorph goes... then he'll hopefully have a better idea of how to approach that over the next few days. We shall see!
She got her arterial line out yesterday, so she has all her limbs, except for her right arm, free of IVs and lines! Her right arm has her PICC line, and that will stay in for as long as she needs it.
She's looking pretty good this morning, she slept through her heart echo and was looking around at everyone before that. Taking a nap now which is great.
The cardiologist was in during her echo and said they are seeing slow progress, but didn't really have anything new to tell me.
I'm hopeful that they can remove her right chest tube after they do a chest ultrasound on that side, since she only had an output of 7mls over 24hrs.
I'm trying to be as hands off as I can, since I came down with Lizzie's cold yesterday. Sleeping as much as I can and drinking lots of water. Extra sanitizing and always having my mask on seems to have worked so far. Praying that continues and I feel better soon. I'm not holding her or getting all up in her face for the time being.
