Day 43

· Ruby's IWK Journey

Written by Charlotte

Took Ruby on a little surprise outing today!

She's getting a bit more portable as we move along. I was completely surprised when Dr. Verma suggested it this morning, but was very happy we could do it. It took a little while to get outside (accompanied by an RN and RT), but we made it and she seemed to enjoy it! Will have to remember her sunglasses for next time though. 🌞 She had a good snooze in the nice, breezy, outside world!

She has also rediscovered her thumb!

Otherwise we've had a pretty quiet day, moving along steadily. Only other big surprise was that they weaned the milrinon (a heart med give via IV, was expecting that to be weaned next week) by half. They'll leave it there for a few days before weaning again. Seems to be handling the wean well, but we'll see. Her heart rate has been a bit higher today, even before they weaned the milrinon, but she may settle as she adjusts to the new levels of all her meds or they may adjust other ones to compensate. Oh, and she is able to do up to 40mls of skim ebm daily now since she is doing so well with it.

Please continue to pray that we avoid any withdrawal as we continue to wean, and that her heart rate will slow down as much as it needs to.

Feeling thankful! I hope I feel well enough for some snuggles tomorrow! ❤️
