The trach change went considerably well! I was able to take it out. We did have a few corking attempts, but after her 2nd one only lasted for 30mins or so we decided to call it a day. We will try again tomorrow. She has better sats with the 2.5 mm trach, which is good and seems to be able to vocalize more easily and cough around it which is good. The RT on today was saying it may take a bit for her to get used to using her upper airway again, probably feels strange and uncomfortable. And the trach change inevitably causes a bit of discomfort and irritation to her airway, but hopefully that will settle down quickly. They are currently saying that she has to go 24hrs corked on the 2.5 in order to decanulate.
On top of all that Miss Ruby has decided that now is a good time to start teething! So that seems to explain a lot of her behaviour the past few days. Hopefully it won't take long for her to pop them through. Out of all the things that could be the problem, that seems like the most "normal baby" thing, so we'll take it!
