Day 6

· Ruby's IWK Journey

Written by Thomas

Another night done, everyone is telling us that she had a really good night. All her numbers were really good so they kept like that all night. We talked to the surgeon and he said much of the same, specifically he mentioned that usually at this time he would be giving her meds to get her kidneys working but her kidneys are doing great right now. She is still creating lots of pee (without meds) which everyone seems surprised and pleased with.

The plan is still to challenge her heart tomorrow, maybe Sunday or Monday, and they are working towards that with how much flow they are giving her from the ECMO. They start around 850cc and are now somewhere around 450cc with a goal is 300cc for tomorrow morning. The summary we were given is, "more of the same" which is good. It's hard to wait, but worth it if it means she'll have a better chance of recovering.

The longer she is on ECMO the more risky it is, but so far she is doing well. He said 3-7 days and beyond that it gets more challenging, but sometimes they have problems with it on day 1, but so far she has been doing well.

We thank God for His provision so far, and we continue to ask for His strength, mercy and healing for our sweet Ruby. ❤️🩹 Please continue to lift her up in prayer as we wait.
